Become a Volunteer

This information is covered before summer camp in a training class. A quick glance at camp looks like this:

Transportation to and from camp. Once you arrive at camp you can expect a warm and excited welcome for both you and your camper. We will give you a rundown of camp rules and expectations (a quick repeat of counselor training and meet and greet information) and have lunch. Activity schedules are provided for each volunteer at camp in your cabin. You will have time to unpack and decorate your cabin. Once that is done, the activities begin! Each year our activities are different based on what themes are set. In 2022, for example, we had Sports Day: Archery, low ropes course, water balloon fights followed by a color cabin war, dress up for dinner time, and more! Each of our activities is carefully planned to ensure all campers can participate. Meals, lodging, down time with your camper/cabin, and counselor breaks are all included in your volunteer time at summer camp.

Camp counselors are required to be 17 years of age or older. A background check is also required.

All counselors and volunteers participating in camp must attend the entire scheduled training session held before camp. All volunteers need to be trained and certified in CPR and first-aid, through training offered by the Red Cross or other certified providers and paid for by CRR, handbook review/training, and specific camper medical training provided by our internal medical staff. We desire to have particular counselors teamed up with certain campers; awareness of your camper’s medical situation and needs will be an essential requirement.
